Study Tools
If you don't have a Bible you need to get one, it is the most important
book you can own. It is the Book of the Covenant of God to mankind. It
is the source and the goal of our Study.
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of
salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines
are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its
decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and
practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you,
and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the
soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven
opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God
its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly,
frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a
river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement,
and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will
reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred
contents.

Watching With Jesus
Watch with Me." Jesus was saying, in effect, "Watch with no private point of view at all, but watch solely and entirely with Me." In the early stages of our Christian life, we do not watch with Jesus, we watch for Him. We do not watch with Him through

Roots Or Shoots?
In the life of trees, one key to survival is having more roots than shoots. In his book Oak: The Frame of Civilization,, author William Bryant Logan says, “If a tree puts on a lot of top growth and few roots, it is liable to be weak-wooded and short-lived. . . . If a tree puts down a great deal of roots and adds shoots more slowly, however, it is liable to be long-lived and more resistant to stress and strain.” . . .

The Sorrow Of Betrayal
When I was a boy, my dad observed my spendthrift ways and often said that money burned a hole in my pocket. I suppose it’s not unlike the way those 30 pieces of silver burned a hole in Judas’ heart after he had betrayed Jesus for a little cash. Imagine how he must have felt as he watched his friend Jesus, with hands bound, being led to trial. Judas had seen those hands . . .

Life Lab
Hurricane Andrew struck the US mainland in August 1992. As residents tried to cope with the destruction, scientists turned Florida into a huge laboratory. Teams of researchers descended on the state to measure the storm’s impact on everything from building materials to tropical fish. Psychologists analyzed the hurricane’s influence on children. Geographers mapped sunken boats. Marine scientists cataloged . . .

Calvary shows how far men will go in sin, and how far God will go for man's salvation.
H. C. Trumbull
Luke 22:33
33When
they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him,
along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left.
Calvary also shows proof that man is enslaved to sin and a stranger to God by birth since the disobedience of Adam and Eve.
Romans 5:12,19
12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.
19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so...

The word preach appears 153+ times in the Bible!
The
word “Preach” in the Webster dictionary says the word “Preach” means
this: To deliver a sermon; To give earnest advice. To proclaim; To
publish in religious discourses; To deliver in public, as a discourse…..
When
people hear the word preach we have a tendency in our minds eye to in
vision a self righteous person pointing the finger telling people get
right or go to hell!
With that in mind folks will use the phrase “Well I don’t need to preach to people I just show them with my life”
While
there is some truth to leading by example...

Loving People, Not Just Words
By Eric Elder
www.theranch.org (http://www.theranch.org)
The day I put my faith in Jesus was the same day I put my faith in
the Bible, from which I learned about Jesus. I fell in love with
both on the same day.
When people talk about how much they love the Bible, they’re not just
talking about a book from which they’ve learned much, they’re also
talking about a Person from whom they’ve learned much.
I suppose it’s like a young...
